Tamar Qeburia hat eine Doppelpromotion in Geschichte von der Ilia State University (Georgien) und der Universität Göttingen mit höchster Auszeichnung abgeschlossen. Sie ist spezialisiert auf die russische Reichs- und Sowjetgeschichte Osteuropas und des Südkaukasus im 19. und 20. Jahrhundert. Ihre Forschung verbindet Sozial-, Wirtschafts- und Umweltgeschichte mit Schwerpunkt auf Technologien, Arbeit, natürlichen Ressourcen und industrieller Infrastruktur. Als Postdoktorandin arbeitet sie am Projekt "Commodity Frontiers in Eastern Europe" und erforscht dabei die Rohstoff- und Bergbauindustrien in Georgien und der Ukraine (spätes 19. Jahrhundert bis 1950er Jahre). Zudem ist sie als assoziierte Forscherin am Institut für Sozial- und Kulturstudien der Ilia State University für das Projekt "Institutionalizing Modernity in Georgia: At the Juncture of Empire and Periphery" tätig.
