Kurzinfo

Tamar Qeburia ist wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Leibniz-Institut für Ost- und Südosteuropaforschung (IOS) in Regensburg. Sie arbeitet im Projekt „Commodity Frontiers in Eastern Europe: Environment and Societies at Global Risk” (16.–21. Jahrhundert), das von 2025 bis 2028 durch die Leibniz-Kooperative Exzellenz gefördert wird.

Ihre Promotion in Osteuropäischer Geschichte (summa cum laude) absolvierte sie im Rahmen eines Cotutelle-Verfahrens an der Ilia State University in Georgien und der Universität Göttingen. Sie ist außerdem als Research Affiliate mit dem Institut für Sozial- und Kulturforschung der Ilia State University verbunden, wo sie in leitender Funktion im Grundlagenforschungsprojekt „Institutionalizing Modernity in Georgia: At the Juncture of Empire and Periphery” tätig ist.

Qeburias Forschung untersucht, wie industrielle Infrastruktur, Umweltwandel, Rohstoffgewinnung, Arbeit und Technologie miteinander verknüpft sind. Ihr regionaler Schwerpunkt liegt auf dem Südkaukasus und Osteuropa vom späten 19. bis zum 20. Jahrhundert.
