Description

Ingo Frank was a member of the junior research group “Frozen and Unfrozen Conflicts” (from November 2015 to October 2018) where he worked on the electronic research infrastructure and digital analysis and visualization tools. Since then he has also been involved in the DFG projects GeoPortOst and OstData (project proposal) in the Library and Electronic Research Infrastructure Division. Prior to his reappointment at the IOS, Frank was a visiting research fellow at the Trier Center for Digital Humanities (TCDH). He has been back at the IOS since January 2019, where he works as a data librarian in the Library and Electronic Research Infrastructure Division. Since March 2019, as an information scientist, he has been responsible for IOS’ contribution to the joint project OstData, which aims to develop a research data service for interdisciplinary research on the regions of East, East-Central, and Southeast Europe. Since March 2019, Frank has also been a member of the international consortium Data for History, which strives to establish ontology-based data modeling in (Digital) History.

Frank’s research interests include: Ontology-based information systems (Semantic Web and Linked Data Technologies); applied ontology (design of information system ontologies informed by philosophical ontology); knowledge representation and knowledge organization; knowledge mapping and diagrammatic reasoning for the digital humanities.
