The online series DigiOst offers access to high-quality, topical edited volumes and conference proceedings, source editions, and monographs. Academic quality assurance is provided by an editorial committee comprising scholars from the institutes involved (IOS, Collegium Carolinum in Munich, Herder Institute in Marburg). The committee examines the online texts in a peer review procedure.
According to the principle of open access, the publications are available worldwide free of charge. In addition, they are digitally preserved at the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek, thus enabling convenient, content-related searches of a single text. The launch of DigiOst has considerably improved the infrastructure for electronic publishing in the research areas of Eastern, East-Central, and Southeast Europe. All volumes are published on the online platform OstDok – Osteuropa-Dokumente online. The volumes can also be purchased from Frank & Timme publishers as high-quality print-on-demand books.
