Map Collection

The map collection at the Leibniz Institute for East and Southeast European Studies (IOS) comprises thousands of maps from the sixteenth to the twenty-first century. We also have a catalog of hidden maps, electronically accessible within the framework of the German Research Foundation (DFG) project GeoPortOst. The catalog lists maps printed in monographs, series, and journals.

The digital map collection of the IOS, which can be accessed via the Geoportal, is constantly being expanded and comprises the majority of old maps as well as a selection of hidden maps.
