Digital library

The library is working hard to digitize its collections. For example, more than 50 travel reports from the seventeenth to the twentieth century have been digitized and put online in the Europeana Travel portal. As part of several third-party funded projects, selected German-language periodicals from the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries have also been made available in the Digitales Forum Mittel- und Osteuropa (Digital Forum Central and Eastern Europe). Individual items from the extensive map collection have already been digitized. Literature on foreigners in the Russian Empire is also gradually being converted into digital formats.

In addition to other digital resources made available by the library of the Leibniz Institute for East and Southeast European Studies (IOS), as the central platform for East and Southeast European Studies, OstDok –Osteuropa-Dokumente online (OstDok – Online Documents on Eastern Europe) provides access to an extensive collection of complete texts in electronic form.
