Out Now: Confruntări postimperiale – Proiecte transnaționale ale Basarabiei la Paris și în alte părți 1917–1922

The Cartier Publishing House in Chișinău has published the Romanian edition of Svetlana Suveica’s (IOS) study, “Confruntări postimperiale. Proiecte transnaționale ale Basarabiei la Paris și în alte părți, 1917–1922”.

The original edition, Post-imperial Encounters: Transnational Designs of Bessarabia in Paris and Elsewhere, 1917–1922”, was published by De Gruyter Oldenbourg in 2022 as Volume 167 of the Südosteuropäische Arbeiten series (Berlin/Boston, 509 pp.). It received the Society for Romanian Studies' (SRS) biennial Book Prize in 2023.

Since its publication, the book has been discussed in numerous academic reviews and in a roundtable, published in journals and platforms such as Slavonic and East European Review, European History Quarterly, Ab Imperio, First World War Studies, Zeitschrift für Geschichtswissenschaft, Jahrbuch der Bessarabien- und Dobrudschadeutschen, Journal of Romanian Studies, CEU Review of Books, Revista Lecturn, and H-Net-Romania.

The Romanian edition, translated by the Romanian renowned writer and translator Cristian Fulaș, was discussed within the Bookfest International Book Fair (September 2-6, 2026), in Chișinău. On this occasion, Svetlana Suveica was invited to discuss the book on media channels Radio România Chișinău and TVR Moldova.

The translation was supported by a grant from the Leibniz ScienceCampus “Europe and America in the Modern World” in Regensburg.
