Description
Svetlana Suveica studied history at the Moldavian State University in Chișinău. In 2001, she completed her doctorate at the University "A.I. Cuza" in Iași on the integration problems of Bessarabia in interwar Romania. In 2021, she habilitated in Southeast and Eastern European History at the University of Regensburg with a study on alternative visions of belonging in Bessarabia during and after the First World War. From 2008 to 2012, Suveica was an associate professor at the Moldovan State University in Chișinău. From 2012 to 2014, she was a Humboldt Research Fellow at the IOS. From 2015 to 2018, she worked as a research assistant at the IOS within a research project funded by the Fritz Thyssen Foundation. From 2022 to 2023 she held the Chair for Modern History of Eastern Europe at the University of Göttingen. Since May 2024, she has been an associate professor at the University of Regensburg. Since February 2025, she is a research associate at the IOS Regensburg (DFG project "Navigating Survival: Economic Exploitation and Everyday Local Practices in Occupied Transnistria (1941-1944)").
