CfA: Visiting Fellowship on International Law and Politics in the South Caucasus

The Leibniz Institute for East and Southeast European Studies (IOS), invites applications for up to two Visiting Fellowships within the DAAD-funded project "Contested Spaces, Fragmented Orders: International Law in the South Caucasus", implemented in cooperation with the Faculty of Law at Yerevan State University (YSU). 

Fellows will conduct an individual research project related to the program themes, including the politics of international law, contested sovereignty, authoritarian legal strategies, and hybrid conflicts in the South Caucasus and the wider post-Soviet region. A regional focus on the South Caucasus is particularly encouraged. During their stay at IOS in Regensburg, Fellows are expected to actively participate in the institute's academic life, contribute to scholarly collaboration and co-teaching, and develop at least one article-length contribution based on their research. 

Fellows will also be expected to contribute to the preparation and implementation of the International Autumn School in Yerevan (30 September – 10 October 2026), organized jointly by IOS and YSU.

Fellowships are funded by the DAAD and include a stipend of up to €2,150 per month and a travel allowance of €825. The fellowship duration is flexible, with a minimum of one month and a maximum of three months; all stays must be completed by 15 December 2026.

Applicants must hold a PhD, be at an advanced stage of doctoral research, or be experienced professionals with relevant expertise in the program's thematic fields. Applicants should be affiliated with a recognized higher education or research institution in Armenia or demonstrate equivalent professional experience and qualifications.
