Kathleen Beger studied Slavic Languages and Literature and East European History in Leipzig, Kyiv and Vienna. From 2014 to 2018, she was a doctoral student at the Graduate School for East and Southeast European Studies and a research assistant at the University of Regensburg, where she received her PhD with a comparative thesis on childhood in the Soviet Union. Between 2019 and 2022, she lived in Bonn, where she first worked in the field of foreign trade promotion and then in the foundation sector. From June 2022 to January 2023 she was a researcher at IOS within the Interreg Danube Transnational Program TalentMagnet. Since February 2023 she is coordinating the project "Transforming Anxieties of Ageing in Southeastern Europe" at IOS, funded by the Volkswagen Foundation.
