  • Description

Description

Vita Zelenska is a researcher, curator, and artist working in the spheres of political anthropology, anthropology of art, and sound studies. Her research interests include political agency, subjectivity, and production of space (space-in-the-making). She graduated from the European University at Saint Petersburg, where she majored in Cultural Anthropology. She wrote her MA dissertation on the “Rebetiko musical genre in Greece (self-presentation, authenticity, performance).” She has conducted several studies in collaboration with theatre actors and directors in Saint Petersburg and with curators of apartment galleries (together with art historian and curator Marina Israilova). She spent a semester at the New School for Social Research (Global Dialogues Fellowship) working on the study of political meanings of sound. Her current project at the Leibniz ScienceCampus focuses on knowledge-making about what it “means” to be a refugee. The project applies asymmetric noncomparative research that will be conducted in Greece and the USA.
